A 14 year member on the other boards, said he talked to a friend that works at NGC (he had originally named the NGC employee, and then edited out the name). Here is what he posted: "NOTE: I received an email from a friend at NGC who indicated to me that they would be recognizing the variety very soon." The variety being discussed was the 004 Pump Handle. If NGC runs with these, that's important.
Update: Not a rumor- NGC has already graded 50 of these 004! http://www.ngccoin.com/news/viewart...Doubled-Die-Reverse-2015-P-Homestead-Quarters
Looks like these are selling like hotcakes on eBay at low prices. Only 41 listings - so, will these dry up soon? I bought a few to put away, to add to the ones I found. Hard to believe they'll go much lower and they may go much higher.
They've stayed at that 40 listing mark for a long time, never rising. Notice there are only a handful of sellers. No one is certain of the mint box, good times for 004 errors. Unlike the skeleton finger, everyone knew what date and time on the mint boxes. I had an afternoon Homestead box, it produced zero errors. Thus you have to buy these in singles or multiples, already identified. IMO these are better than the skeleton finger, that had many extra fingers/thumbs. The 004 has two sharp pump handles, perfectly framed in the lower window. Except for one, none of the other Homestead errors resemble that pump handle. Plus this is recognized by NGC. I am a buyer.
Heads up for those thinking of buying unopened US mint 100 coin bags... The biggest seller of these posted on the other board. This guy apparently lucked into a bunch of these, and bought lots of boxes with wide ranging dates. He kept records of his finds. He indicated the only good time stamp for the 004 is between 9:30-10:30 AM. Anything later is no good for the 004. Also a modern dealer over there said if this guys numbers are right (about 20,000 004) they should have a potential value of $120.00 each.
Thanks. I don't know about the 20,000 estimate, that would be extremely low and would mean the die that produced the 004's would have been discovered early and pulled from production. How was 20,000 arrived at? Do you have a link to this analysis?
My name is Chad and I don't know if this will show up but everybody is talking about the pump handle on the back of the 2015 homestead quarter but I think I just may have found a error on that quarter that is much cooler the the handle the error I've found is where the initials are under the neck it's just a blob where the initials go I will be glad to take pictures of my find on these quarters I've got like 7 of these errors if anyone heard of this can you send me some info please I will send you pictures of this if you need to see what I'm talking about (e-mail address removed) thank you very much and once again my name is Chad

If anyone is interested here's a post from a collector/dealer? on another site. Giving the 004 population. He just posted this today. This is his post and comments: NGC updated pops MS67: 5 MS66: 141 MS65:874 MS64:407 MS63: 67 Total:1494 66s and 67s on these are going to be worth some serious money if anybody cares about this coin.
Not for the ANACS MS67 004. There are 2 on Ebay one is starting bid of $395, the other is $995 OBO. You are looking at something other than 004 error, or the wrong grade.
Thanks...I seen several at several different prices.....wooops.....heck I was watching the $20.00 ones..
Heck you got an error, based on market(ie supply and demand) I would. I've been searching and searching, no luck. And we all know..someone will pay what they THINK it's worth; I only want to find one!! Watch those up for sale and if sold, then you have a base price of value...only my opinion..good luck!
