Stupid article- The least newsworthy thing I have ever read! So what! Some guy put a $5 coin in the change and it makes news? They treat this like she found something worth a million dollars, very delusional.

Nailed that one! You found a $40 auction that already had a bid, that was overpriced so no one else was likely to bid.. pretty good. The other $79 coin shows how this isn't always the case.. where theres ONE over-bidder on ebay theres mostly another right behind him ready to outbid the overbidder I guess.

If only 2 of you are playing, you'll have a one point advantage on him for the ebay task..

I'm glad you guys are playing nice.. I think maybe there are some folks really wouldn't like the pointing-out of mistakes.. maybe I shoulf have left that one out ;)

what the heck happened to my coin? When I put the link here it was at 40.00 exactly and just over 4 hrs.
When I checked back, the time was 3h 22m and was still 40.00

So how come the previous bids show no 40.00?

    Im stumped!

The $40 was a proxy bid, not a real bid. Only bids put in by a person show on that screen.

    'Generic' coins offer alternative investments
    4/23/2007

    By Mark Ferguson
    COIN VALUES Market Analyst
“However, one area many coin investors overlook is investing in and assembling bulk groups of coins.

It is true that investing in bags of circulated 90 percent silver dimes, quarters and halves, or large groups of silver dollars, for example, has been a common practice for at least a couple of generations. However, investing in large groups of other generic coins may also have potential. These are the most common dates of a series, like "type coins."”
To consider that coin collectors would consider junk silver an investment is, to say the least, dumb. With the increase in the price of silver over the last year it would seem to be a fool’s investment to buy silver when it is at a historic high, at least for the current period. This comment may have been a wise statement two years ago when silver was at about $6 an ounce, (purely based on my memory, which may be off by a few months or so). However, how often does a wise buyer enter the market at the top of the cycle. Silver as well as gold moves in cycles, and now does not seem to be the time to start buying. A few months ago a friend was selling silver like crazy when he was getting (from dealers) 10 X face. Not that I am a genius, I held onto my junk silver and still am waiting for the Hunt Brothers to come back into the market.

“Looking to the future there's potential for dealers to sell bags of unsearched About Uncirculated State quarter dollars, Presidential dollars or even Lincoln Memorial cents.”
Gimme a break, tie up thousands of dollars into circulated (he did say AU) states quarters, with hundreds of millions minted for past years and future years? Or AU Lincoln cents? Better to put away copper cents and await the possibility of melting them for the gain, as we did with silver coins.

Theres a bit for me to go through for partial credit point values on 2 of the tasks.. but you're ahead in the ebay thing.

I have to appologize to the 2 first entrants.. I gave away a clue for doing well in the ebay task after hamman88 nailed it..

I won't give any more clues but I bet the one who thinks he's LAST is mistaken.

    well that just bites...lol

I could have also submitted the wrong page link. I had 2 different coins open, the first I found was 35 and the second was 40..so it could of been my fault

May have been a partial credit attempt.. Trust me, I'll find all the "issues" ;)

There are a couple items people have posted that fall slightly short.. If you point them out... well.. theres good AND bad to pointing them out. Editing a post with an ebay link in it isn't good either... it looks good still..

The efforts are all fantastic.. Details on door number 5 will be revealed to the winner only, tomorrow. There is a chance to trade all the prizes for a SINGLE coin, in US mint packaging. Value may be more or less than the group of prizes... but no less than any single known prize.

    PRIZE LIST UPDATED!

Remember.. my point values won't be explained, and can't be argued.. part of the rules. Winner announced tomorrow!
