This is a counterfeit coin in a holder which is either fake, or real but compromised.

Please report as many times as possible, as soon as possible, so eBay takes it down before someone gets stuck for thousands . . . only 3 hours left in the auction at this writing.

reported.. funny 2 coins are pictured one in 3 prong holder (the fake I believe) and the other in a normal ngc 4 prong slab... I don't think i've ever seen an ngc slab with only 3 prongs (and I own over 100)

Plenty of giveaways. 0 feedback, no other items for sale, two images stolen from NGC in a 3 prong holder followed by blurry closeups in a 4 prong holder which are clearly not the same coin... Gosh I hate these scammers.

https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/6058594-009/61/ the 3 prong is real and the images were likely stolen by the scammer. Also reported.

The 3 is off NGC's site as @KBBPLL posted above.

For those of you who relied upon the number of prongs in the holder to determine which coin is counterfeit, I believe NGC first came out with 4 prong holders, and later migrated to 3 prong.

I have a 2022 half dollar in a 4-prong holder, so I guess 3 prong must be for certain issues.
Regardless, I cannot imagine spending $3600 on something from a brand new user with zero feedback.
I wonder if the buyer will get no coin, fake or not.

Recent sales of the 1911-D $5 in MS61 are $6600-7900. When it seems too good to be true, it probably is, but greed wins over reason. The seller signed up immediately before listing the coin, Feb 27. They'll probably take the money and run.

I just don't buy anything from sellers with literally ZERO feedback.

Simple way to help protect yourself... but 'bidiots' do as 'bidiots' do.

Hard to believe it sold for $3,653.03. No one questioned the photos or the coin?

ToughCoins did, but clearly the bidders did not.

Took me a while to even realize the discrepancy, good catch!

Yes great catch, can't miss the suspect date but apparently someone got stuck with it! That's a shame because in hand, they're probably gonna realize they got screwed! Sellers feedback should have been the first red flag!

Thank goodness we are at the peak of our precious metal's investment. The only way we would purchase gold these days is at a certified live auction or our local trusted numismatist.

I don’t think PayPal releases the funds immediately when the seller is brand new. Hopefully since it was reported, it will get sorted out and the customer will be made whole without the crooked seller receiving a cent.
