I do like "HIS WORK." I just don't like it when he copies the work of others, especially to make money. When he tries to pass the work of others as his own, it's pathetic. I will do my best not to reply to this thread any more unless it is more constructive. I agree, threads like this don't tend to help much.
Or how about an 1882 no cents? I think that would make more "cents" (sorry couldn't help myself). However the 1913 "no cents" would serve as an obvious "marker" so there'd be no confusion with the ultra-rare 1913 nickels. I wonder what the marker is on this 1914 piece since there is no mintmark, usually a D or DC IIRC. Then again since the date doesn't exist does there need to be a marker? I'm sure there's one or two in there.
I bought his "defiant tower" dollar coin. I love it. I wish he would go back to his original designs too.
Its like they say: if the cancer doesn't kill you, the chemo will . spoken from a cancer survivor, 13 years cancer free ..
Went for the proof like version of die pair two of the Barber token today. I already have two of the Barber 1916 MS 69 ANACS, but wanted the proof like one. Seller's picture, not mine.
C'mon Chris. I respect and like you too much for that. I know you don't like using existing designs in that format, but we have been over this so many times. One either likes his work, or doesn't. I do, and YOU KNOW I respect you as a major Morgan Dollar person.
I have nothing against you, either, but I can't say the same for DC. When he doesn't like what someone posts, he does his best to belittle that person. He can continue to say what he pleases. All it does is show him for the #^*&* he is. Chris
I still cannot get my head around the fact that Bernard Von Nothaus got indicted and had to go through trial for his Liberty Dollars, which lightly resemble U.S. coins, while "others" can produce exact copies/replicas of U.S. coins, only changing a date and/or mintmark, and get away with it. Just wondering and putting my 2-Cents (both elongated) in...
Well no one is using the fantasy strikes as alternative currency. People had an option, and you know the FED. They want to be and are the only "option." But you're right, Liberty Dollars look nothing like U.S. coinage.
MD , don't you think all these so called fantasy coins that Mr. Carr is making , are saturating the market . I mean how many of these things can be made before they're nothing more than overpriced bullion , if they're not already .
I can't state the saturation of all combined coin shows and total websites, but eBay for example there is no saturation problem at all .. If you search all of the Daniel Carr items available there are somewhere around 500+ Items available , however that would be every single item ever produced by Dan and some additional pieces which were struck pieces with his dies. When it comes to the overstrikes of US coins the saturation is non existent.. Some of them you won't even find one example available .. They all show up at times, but sometimes it could be months .. The only ones that are sitting around a bit longer are the more current year varieties, such as the 1975 Quarters ,Kennedy halves and the Roosevelt Dime, but they are slowly disappearing .. The only overstrike older coin variety that is more readily available are the 1910 Indian Cent varieties.. Place a 1964 Benjamin Franklin Halve or 1816 Capped Bust up on there and see how long they last .. In summation Dan produces such low mintages of all his releases that I don't believe saturation will ever be a problem.. I don't have a crystal ball to predict the future, but this is what I have observed for the past 4 years .. If you want to find a Globalization Panda Hard Times token by Dan well good luck as they were sold for $85 and now command in the $400 range
