Hey Guys, I recently picked up the Cherrypickers guides (volumes 1 and 2). Today i found this while roll searching dimes. Do you think it's a 1970 D reverse of '68? I appreciate anything you can tell. I tried to get different angles of the torch, hopefully the pictures are sufficient. Thanks, Jason
Any idea on value or population. It doesn't say either in the guide... (It's in about XF40 grade, probably a bit higher)
The 1970-D Roosevelt with Reverse of 68 is a relatively common variety. I sold a PCGS attributed coin in MS66 for a couple of hundred in August of 2013 but it was well below what I was originally asking even though it was a top pop coin at the time. Subsequent sales of an ungraded pair in October of 2013 (a 1970 and a 1970-D as a pair) went for less than 6 bucks. Needless to say, raw coins are difficult in the pricing range but a well circulated example "might" get you $1.00 or so. Sorry to say but this is a highly specialized variety that those who collect them, know about. They also know that they are readily available, with a little searching, in uncirculated grades.
Alright thats ok! I wasnt really looking to strike it rich, just trying to determine weather it goes into a flip or a tube with the others i found (1 1970, 2 1970D). Nevertheless I am now educated on the subject, and will keep an eye out for more! Thanks 19Ldys
