Another one for the set. Can't wait to send this one off for proper pictures.....I really dig this one.
You know I've read that several collectors do not like the "boring" coins of the Netherlands. Too bad for them, they are missing out. Some of the coins are real gems, with great detail even on the tiniest issues. Nice coin.
I negotiated with a dealer from Sarasota on this one. I finally have a coin attributed to Gottingen itself. This is where my daughter-in-law is from and her family lives. I am trying to put together a little collection for her to inherit. I have pretty much completed personal keep sakes for my son, daughter and grand-daughter.
cool coin. what size is this coin in mm ? I am trying to look it up in my Krause catalog. many varieties for this date/mint mark. did they say what the grade was for this coin ?
as far as the grade im guessing vf-xf if lucky they said it was KM 640. here's the info that was provided France First Republic Directoire.1795-1799Copper Decime 32mm (22.25 grams) Paris mint. Dated L’An 5 (1796/7) Reference: KM 640 REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE, Veiled and draped bust of Liberty left. UN DECIME LAN 5. A, Denomination and date in three lines; all within wreath.
well after looking at the pages it looks way more like KM#645.1 the KM#640's are for 5 centimes denomination. KM#645.1 is for Decime and Paris mint 31mm, weight-20.0000g. grade/value G-$12.00 VG-$30.00 F-$80.00 VF-$200.00 Krause values may differ than real life market values. wait for other opinions...
Here's one I've wanted for awhile to add to my coins with elephants collection. 1815 Ceylon 1 stiver.
Ive always been a big fan of the different eagles on german coins so I picked this two up (10$) along with a 1833 Spain 4 Maravedis 5$. I really like the reverse design on the old crusty Spanish copper.
They are not coins, but I'm very excited to get my 2015 Coins of England books today. There are my first non U.S. coin books. Can't wait to waste hours spending my money, my wife's money, and my inheritance when that day comes.
Interesting that Spink has had to divide their latest edition into two volumes. With so many decimal issues, its no wonder!
