With the purchase of an 1831 Large Cent, I am now almost done with my 19th and 20th century type set. The 20th century is done and the only thing missing from the 19th century are the 1796-1807 and the 1808-1815 large cents. So now, except for a 1794 Large Cent, I'm missing all of the 18th century. I have been insisting on nothing less than AU, or at the very least a super EF with mostly undamaged fields (I will take a damaged, not corroded, coin as long as the details aren't obscured). This means that everything I'm missing is in the 2K range. I may have to lower my standards to F15 or VF.
I would try to save money and buy one coin each 6-12 (or more?) months. Don't lower your standards too much just to complete your type set quickly. I know it will take me 30+ more years to complete my US type set... and I am not very patient LOL Why don't you post pics of your 1831 large cent?
Nice. I'm still working on 20th century, looking for (ideally) MS65 with nice toning, but I've picked up a couple of MS63-64 with great eye appeal. Soon, I'll be down to just the Barbers.
Not real good hand held pictures through plastic. It's AU55. The dimple on the chin limited it but it suits me just fine.
