I got my Breen book and as I'm looking through it I'm confused. I went to look up my 1840/1840 Half dollar which states on NGC as WB-104 but I don't see a 104 I see a 4749... Can someone explain this to me?

Different naming convention. The Breen book came well before Wiley/Bugert.

WB is Wiley-Bugert. ;) (edit: perhaps I should learn to read... I didnt realize the other gentleman already said as much).

Also, and perhaps you're already aware, but be careful about taking the Breen encyclopaedia as gospel. As a US type reference I still believe it's the best we have, but with that said, you would be wise to independently verify what you read before taking it as fact. This is due in part to the book's age, but also because Mr. Breen, it could be said, was a little loose with the facts sometimes.

Realize that Walter never met a fact that he couldn't make up
