Is this a die crack?

    I'm not familiar with Die Cracks and would appreciate you guy's weighing in on if this is one or not and how to identify one versus damage? Thanks, J.B.

    It looks to me like the coin itself is splitting. It's not from a cracked die.

    Can't tell, could be PMD.

    So much damage, it is hard to tell.

    If it was a die crack the metal on the coin would be raised. To me, this looks like one of the crummy Zincolns that someone messed with.

    Looks like it was used 1 too many times to me. Not a crack for sure. Looks more like the zinc is splitting apart for overuse.

    A die crack is not a crack in the coin (like you have) but a crack in the die used to strike the coin. When the coin is struck, the metal flows into the crack beyond the typical surface of the coin, so this will appear as a raised line on the coin.
