Hi all. I'm in a bit of a dilemma about this 1928 Oregon Trail Commemorative. Its a beautiful coin but I'm not entirely sure if its worth the price. I don't know commems as well as I know other series, and I didn't take the picture with the thought of posting it on here, so forgive the horrid quality (and lack of reverse picture). The coin is fully deserving of the MS65 grade as far as surfaces go. The coin is toned both front and back. The upper half of the obverse is kind of a greenish yellow tone where the bottom half is a reddish purple that fades to more blues and purples toward the lower half, and the reverse is neat because the subject matter (wagon and sun) are covered in the greenish tone and the sky is the reddish purple tone. The picture doesn't show half the color this coin has, so again sorry about that. Just wondering everyone elses opinion on what they think a fair price for the coin would be.

All depends on if you like it. I had a few that I bought that I didn't end up really liking. Then I came across this one. It was worth the wait.

As far as prices go Id try and haggle a bit, but it's in the ballpark.

Blazing tonners command higher prices, and if that's the case with yours (and the price indicated on the holder) things ain't too out of line. Especially if you like what you see........:)

The toning is nothing unusual in the OP coin. I picked up one between that one and Bigtee's gorgeous coin for about $200 a year ago or so. Unless you are in love with the coin I would haggle some. Its not a rare type at all. The 1928 date is better though, so maybe $230?

The price doesn't seem out of line. I had a beautifully toned specimen in NGC MS67 that I paid $825 for.

Price is in-line but I'd still try to get 10% knocked off of it.

I like the look of it. I would like to know who is offering such a nice looking coin for such a decent price? Definitely buy it!!! Otherwise, tell me who is selling it so I can buy it, instead. Ha, ha!

I tried to get him to come down a little yesterday on this and a questionable MS63RD IHC (the questionable part being the Red designation), but the lowest he would go was $300 for the pair. I'd love $285 but he's being quite stubborn.

LOTS and LOTS of similar coins out there sir. This is a very common type, and usually come quite nice. No sense in paying more than you are happy with on a common coin. Of course, its always up to you and what is it worth to you.

Nice coin and a decent price. Love the toning. If you like it, buy it. If you don't, pass.

I like it. Grab the half and the IHC. No, I'm not selling the coins.

Well honestly I'd be picking both up to resell. I think I'd have enough meat on the IHC, but as of can guess my concern is the commemorate.

That's different. $250 is essentially full retail for the half.

So, why should someone cut their profit so you can make a profit?
Your name wouldn't be Rick Harrison, would it?

Why should the person the dealer bought it from cut their gains so the dealer could make a profit? It's the way the game works. Plus I'm only looking for a little off, I didn't offer him 100 for both!
