Happens once in a while when I buy coins on eBay (have also made this mistake a couple times as a seller). Anyhow, I won this lot: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Japan-1916-...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 And I received this: The 10 sen coin is from another lot the seller had listed which a different person won: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1870-JAPAN-...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Of course I will be sending it back, but it sucks because the 1916 coin was the one I really wanted and is the one that wasn't there. The person that won the lot with the 10 sen that I got instead already left positive feedback. Package arrived last week, but I only picked it up today. SO whoever got the coin I was supposed to get is keeping quiet about it. On a side note, I've never seen foreign coins in old PCI slabs before. Has anyone else? @Conder101 ?
I think there's a 50-50 chance, that if eBay got involved, they would tell the buyer to send the coin back to the seller, or else. You have nothing to lose.
+1 to this, but, in your situation, I would keep it between myself, the seller, and the other buyer, if possible. If there's no need to drag eBay into it, why bother?
Yea I wouldn't get eBay involved unless I absolutely had to. Dealing with them is always such a hassle, both from a buyer or seller standpoint. Anyhow seller messaged me back that another of the buyers informed him he received the coin from my lot. Hopefully it all gets sorted out. Makes me feel good someone else out there has a sense of decency
If seller sent wrong items to the two buyers, he is at fault and should take care of it. Seller should contact both buyers via eBay message system, let them know of mistake, pay for return priority shipping, and do what it takes to get the right item to the right buyer. If other buyer does not cooperate, seller should at minimum refund your money and either pay to ship back or better yet allow you to keep item for your trouble. If seller does not make it right, I would give them negative feedback. I'll bet they make it right. TC
You get eBay involved, despite the fact they are a PITA, because they hold all the aces, and can FIX the problem. Or else. Only they can suspend members for failing to cooperate; you can argue until you're blue in the face = zero consequences. But since everyone's playing nice up front, give them a chance.
If you can WELL communicate an error to eBay, they will fix it. Either way, you'll come out even @ worst, IMO.
Yes I have. And I hope they are able to get things straightened out, those 50 sen pieces look beautiful.
My hope of it getting straightened out is diminished. Right after seller messaged me that another buyer told him they "received my coins", I got another message asking me to confirm if I received the right thing or not and that seller will message his other buyers asking about it. Obviously these two messages are contradictory. I'm going to send them back tomorrow and just be done with the whole thing. Edit: Now informed that the missing coin is on it's way back to the seller. Bit of a roller coaster here.
Have had the same experience. The seller mixed up two coins. By working with tne seller everything was worked out. Good luck with your situation.
Ha ha, reminds me of several situations. I once sold a coin, found it and then put it in an envelope, laid it down. Wife asked me do to something, I did it. Later returned to my "coin room", and could not see the coin!! Searched everywhere, almost tore the carpet up, moved shelves, well you get the picture. THEN, I looked in this plain ol envelope laying on my desk. There have been occasions when I had to cancel a sales as I could not find the coin!! I have reopened several envelopes on occasion to check if I had indeed put in the correct coin!! SO, I really work at staying ORGANIZED. The extra effort pays off. Your seller probably made a simple error, especially if he/she has a lot of concurrent items for sale. Sorry for you if you did not get the coin wanted (the 1916 looks really sharp)....but the coins you did get are pretty nice lookin, yes? And shiney too. Oh, and those are nice collectible holders.
That's a good thing!!! Our brains work too fast for body to keep up (especially with digital devices in our hands). WORKING at organization - ESPECIALLY with coins in a collection - is REALLY a GREAT thing... It's brain training.
I purchased a silver cob from a seller years ago. He had 3 for sale and of course all 3 sold. All 4 reale from the Atocha . Well as luck would have it...he managed to ship all 3 cobs to the wrong buyers. He got it right but on what a mess.
