You just saved me a lot of trouble. When I went to look at the Kogen coin (see thread above) i found it used as a book mark in my "Guide to Biblical Coins" by Hendin (1st edition.) I realized that if i had carried the book with me as planned, i would legally not be able to export the coin from Israel, since it did not have papers from IAA!! If a customs official had noticed it, I would have been in trouble!!! Anyway, i now will be certain that any coins I buy will be from dealers who ship or coins which have papers from IAA.
Well, I went to the Baltimore show a few months back and was unnerved by having to walk through the parking garage with a pocketful of expensive coins that I had purchased. Then a few months later the city erupted in anarchy. I decided not to go to the most recent show.
That's a shame. I have gone to every Baltimore show (3x/yr.) since 2011. I had to skip this last one because of my trip. You know, they have a FedEx station right there on the show floor and there is usually a USPS operation in the convention center. I have never used them since I go with muscle (my wife, lol) so we are a pair. Also, we park in an open air lot, but still scary. Also, I have an insurance policy with H Wood (ANA recommended), which is the best check I write each year because of the peace of mind it brings me. Don't give up on Baltimore!
I won't give up on Baltimore. I just need to make safer arrangements. Perhaps someday we'll meet at the show.
We can meet up at Perrry Siegel's table (Herakles) in early November. http://expo.whitman.com/baltimore-winter-expo/
