PCGS HAS BECOME EVEN MORE GREEDY THEN THEY ALREADY WERE , AT FIRST THEY HAD SAID THEY WOULD EXCEPT THE 2007 P WASHINGTON SMOOTH EDGE ERROR UNDER THE WORLD MODERN GRADING FOR $14 DOLLARS...THEY HAVE NOW DECIDED TO CHARGE $40 DOLLARS WHICH IS ALMOST TRIPLE THE ORIGINAL PRICE AND FOR WHAT TO WAIT 25 DAY TURN AROUND ..NGC IS ONLY CHARGING $12.50 FOR SAME COIN AND ANACS IS CHARGING $10 AND WITH ANACS YOU DONT EVEN NEED TO JOIN THEIR CLUB..NOW WE ALL KNOW THAT PCGS IS THE TOP GRADING SERVICE BUT IF WE DONT LET THEM KNOW THAT WE ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THEM RAISING PRICES ..HOW WILL THEY EVER KNOW ..SO IF YOU AGREE WITH ME PLS EMAIL PCGS info@pcgs.com AND TELL THEM THAT YOU ARE NOT GOING TO PAY THEIR CRAZY PRICES AND MAYBE JUST MAYBE THEY WILL HEAR US..C'MON THE COIN ITSELF ONLY SELLS FOR AROUND $50-$60 AND THEY WANT $40 TO GRADE ...SHAME ON YOU PCGS !!!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome aboard,NYCMY.You will learn a lot about coins here from a lot of members, both old hands & newbies. Aidan.
welcome, and yes that is a ripoff!!! shame on u PCGS .. how could they hurt the hobby that supports them like this??
Not Spam ...i'm A New Guy I Am Just Really Peed Off Because They First Said They Would Charge 14 And Then After They Saw That The George Washington Smooth Error Coin Was More Then Just A Few Thousand They Decided To Be Greedy And Trippled Their Price .i Think That Is Unfair And Totally Greed Driven ..especially When Ngc Only Charging 12.50 For Same Service With Less Turnaround..maybe This Is Not The Place For This But I Am Only Into Collecting Coins For About Four Years And This Was The First Time I Have Decided To Go As Far As Getting A Coin Graded Myself .so I Call Pcgs And Ask Them A Bunch Of Question And One Of The Questions Were How Much To Grade The 2007 Washington Smooth Error And I Was Told 14 Dollars .so I Figure Ok Not Bad And I Join Pcgs For 200 Dollars For One Year And By The Time I Get My Paper Work And Fill Out The Submission Form I Call Again To Ask A Submission Question And At That Time I'm Told That The Same Coin Is Now 40 Dollars Per Coin To Grade ..hey Like I Said Maybe I'm Saying This In The Wrong Place And If I Am Pls Except My Apology And Someone Pls Tell Me Were The Proper Place Would Be To Write This And If Anyone Else Feels This Is Unfair And The Price Change Is Too Much Please Write Pcgs And Let Them Know..also If I Have Done Anything To Offend Anyone I Apologize So Far I Really Like This Forum And Only Found It Because Of This Pcgs Problem So Maybe It Wasnt All Bad ...thank You Guys
If By Spam You Were Are Refering To Me I Am Just New But This Was Not Ment To Be Spam I Just Needed A Place To Rant And If This Is Wrong Place I Offer My Apology And Could You Pls Tell Me Were The Proper Place To Rant Would Be And Again Sry If I Have Offended Anyone
Perhaps I was a bit "coarse" in my earlier response. I bid you Greetings and Welcome to the forum. There are many here who use the service TPGs offer and there are many like I who have no need for their services. Take Care Ben
Welcome! At times, PCGS Customer Service can be clueless and their answers may be incorrect. I would recommend checking back with them to see which price is correct, $14 or $40.
The entire coin hobby/industry is largely an unregulated, buyer-beware, sometimes crooked, always dangerous, and highly interesting part of Western culture. Welcome to one of the last outposts of unsupervised fun left on the planet.
Welcome to the forum NYCMY!!! Like Bonedigger, I've never used PCGS. But all the same, it is a ripoff if the fees you stated are actually correct.
Welcome NYCMY! If you look at the PCGS fee schedule, you will see that the Mint Error tier is priced at $40.00. This is not a new development and I'm a little suprised at the level of indignation shown. Now that being said, I do believe that the customer service rep gave you some incorrect information. The GW smoothies have their own PCGS coin number and should be able to be submitted under the Modern tier. Hope this helped. Tom
I also have not used PCGS, only NGC. That jump in price is ridiculous IMO, they're just plain greedy.
If that $40 figure is correct, it could be a way for them to limit demand vs. the supply of graders/grading time that they have. Or it could be profit-taking...
I Have Called Them Back Twice Just To Make Sure That I Was Being Told The Right Price And Yes Both Calls Have Confirmed That Pcgs Has Changed Their Mind And Instead Of The $14 World Modern Which They Were Excepting From The Very First Coin Graded They Changed Their Mind At The End Of March And Decided To Now Charge $40 Dollars Per Coin Grade For The 2007 Washington Smooth Edge Under The Title Mint Errors.. Well My Joining Was Only Because Of The First Price Quoted And Now They Will Not Refund My Money I Am Totally Turned Off To Pcgs And I Really Dont Want To Pay That Extortion But Isnt Pcgs The Best Of The Grading Company's .i Know Everyone Has Their Own Reasons And Like And Dislikes But I Still Think That Asking 40 Dollars To Grade This Coin Is Way To High And That All I Will Say About This And To All That Welcomed Me I Thank You And Say Hello To All ..
]No The Coin Was Definatley Being Excepted Under The World Modern At 14 Dollars And At End Of March Pcgs Has Now Decide To Charge 40 Dollars Under Mint Errors ..i Would Think If Enough Of Us Emailed Or Called Pcgs They Might Just Reconsider..then Again You Guys Would Know Better Then I Would..thanks For The Reply
