Hey folks, I introduced myself couple of weeks ago where I received my fathers coin collection. Everything is going well with it and I found two places to take a few coins to have them appraised and graded, nothing special so far I think my dad was more of a silver hound than anything. Well I have my first question I would like to post. My dad has a lot of these 2000 Sacagawea dollar coins "P" mint mark, few that are sealed up but most are circulated. Is there anything special about that coin? Sorry I've attempted to take a picture and I'm learning just how difficult it is to take a picture of a coin in no light/ to much light and with glare and my attempts have been in vain for the moment. Thanks

Circulated are only F/V. What do you mean by sealed up?

Original shipping, so I guess mint quality.

2000-P SAC's are extremely plentiful and probably worth a buck unless in extremely high grade.

I'm going to guess that your Dad was looking for one of the "Cheerios" variety which may have ended up in circulation. In 1999, a special Sacagawea die was produced to strike coins that were to be flown on the space shuttle. These dies were inadvertently used to strike a few thousand of the Sacagawea dollars that were used by General Mills as a promotion for the new millennium. Approximately 5,500 boxes of Cheerios contained a 2-coin set of the 2000-P cent and dollar. There is no way of knowing exactly how many of the 5,500 were the "Cheerios" variety. It has enhanced tail & wing feathers on the eagle. It is also assumed that some of these coins were spent by the kids who found them in the cereal box. In Mint condition, certified Cheerios dollars have sold for many, many thousands of dollars.

Wow! That's pretty cool on the Cheerios dollar, I'll half to pay close attention. That sounds like my dad, he wouldn't go out and pay for something he needed to complete a set, just enjoyed the find..
