I too wish they'd make them in .900 silver just like the originals. They did it with the 2009 Lincolns (original composition) for collectors, so it's not like it's some weird concept.

Exactly, it's the no brainer, which is exactly why the mint has not pursued it. I don't know, doesn't the mint's executive program take advantage of hiring opportunities from the Americans with Mental Disabilities Association?

If cost is prohibitive for some why not mint them in copper, silver and gold. Catch the full spectrum of collectors.

I personally think they should offer them as a silver set, gold set and then offer a gold and silver set with a silver 2016 Buffalo Nickel as an added bonus..

It's a travesty these are not offered in original composition. They did with 2009 Lincoln cents, how can they not even think about offering original composition coins on arguably the greatest transition in design in American history.

Someone should be in jail for not doing this. :(

I'm not looking forward to these, and not because I don't like the designs. The mint has the capability to execute coinage with fine detail that far exceeds that which was made 100 years ago, but chooses not to in order to make dies last longer and make cameo proofs. I fear that even without the added fine print, which would be an ugly distraction even if not rendered in some generic computer font, these coins will be caricatures of the originals unworthy of the legacy of their original designers. If, for example, you compare the reverse of the 2006 San Francisco mint commemorative dollar with that of an actual Morgan dollar, you'll see that it's not only far inferior to the original, but it's not even as good as most Chinese counterfeits. I do, however, have one of the 2009 Ultra-high relief $20 coins and other than the computer font "IN GOD WE TRUST", I like it. Perhaps there's hope for these coins, but my confidence level isn't terribly high.

I'll grin from ear to ear when I say that I think the laser frosting to the devices is hideous. It's like taking a decent picture and then using Instagram's "make a crappy picture" filters on it, or watching Gilligan's Island without the aluminum foil and coat hanger hanging from the rabbit ears.

    :)
