I won this one last evening; I think it's in pretty nice condition for a coin from 1544 :). Teletrade called it a Gulden in their description, but it's a Grozy (Groschen) (or Groszy, depending which spelling you prefer). From the Duchy of Prussia (later called East Prussia) and depicts Albrecht Hohenzollern. -Preussen

Great find...if I am not mistaken...Wilhelm I and II way down the line were of the house of Hohenzollern. Long regal history.

Very nice coin, although I don't support the mint state grade...my grade GEF...

Thanks for your opinion :) -Preussen

Edited to add: I own several pieces of the type; it is "as struck," thus Mint State.

hard to say with such a small picture but I would say it looks almost as good as new. Outstanding shape.

That's a very nice coin you have bidded on.It is a real shame that Teletrade will not allow anyone from outside Canada & America to register, let alone, bid or sell anything.

Is it possible to work through a friend in the States or Canada Aidan ? like maybe use some of your friends info to register like his address or something, and then the coins can be paid by you, shipped to them, and they can ship to you... im not sure how teletrade works, but their has got to be a way to get around them 'limitations' :)

I am no expert when it comes to grading a coin and dont subscribe much to MS-whatever grades, I just know when a coin is in great shape...I would say that is, without doubt, in mint condition.

Daggarjon,a lot of the New Zealand numismatic community don't have contacts in either the U.S. or Canada.I don't either. We're more likely to be in touch with the numismatic community in Australia & England.
When TradeMe first started up,they were allowing international traders, but they brought in a very unpopular policy that restricts membership of TradeMe to members only within New Zealand & Australia (if they have a bank account in New Zealand). It was good having dealers in the U.S. selling New Zealand coins to New Zealanders, but this is no longer possible.

Thanks, everyone for the nice comments.

Aidan: I've been registered with TT for quite a while, but this was my first auction participation with them. I wasn't aware of their registration restriction . Seems like an odd business decision :rolling:. -Preussen

I just browse through the various categories on future TT auction listings. They're mostly US, so there aren't many world coins to sort through. -Preussen
