Who wants to guess how much that piece sells for?

The art of pricing coins has far less to do with the price guides than most probably think. No price guides existed when the first collectors decided what a coin was worth to them. Price guides were established after the prices were already paid, and always have been little more than a trailing indicator.

Since no price guides exist for an item such as this, it seems a fun exercise to guess what the market will bear.

My guess is $80K plus the juice.

I would guess < $10K, but I have no clue, really. The most recent auction from Jim's Coins had a beautiful pile up that I don't believe sold for the minimum of $8,500, that was was 17 coins and the set had more eye appeal, At least to me.

To me, this just solidifies my belief that "some" error coins were fabricated purposely and smuggled out in a hidden compartment in a thermos or lunchpail....most likely, on the graveyard shift, whilst all the big wigs were at home counting sheep. It would be very tempting, to say the least.....
