Well, I wasn't too worried since I accidentally pushed my maximum a bit....and I have just been informed I did, in fact, win it.

I probably overpaid a bit for that fine grade scarce Otho denarius---but the fact it's a scarcer left-facing bust version makes me feel I 'only' paid high retail for it. In any case, I'm content I went after it but it did cause me to bail out on two other coins I was after--- and that was after letting two others go by as they hit high retail---so I won half this time (4 of 8) as the 'dust settled' ......

Needless to say, I will be absent from any bidding until at least this time next month. And I also won a Julia Paula and a Quietus coin---filling more holes and adding to my ever growing 'hoard' of the Roman ladies...:)

Hmmm, so that's how silvery they look without the plastic slab:D

Naturally, I think your denarius is terrific!!!

    chrsmat71 I LIKE TURTLES!

sweet serrate denari you guys...super new coins MZ and RS.

    i dig those big time

i'm about 0.200...not so hot. but i put in frequent low ball bids that rarely win (every now and thin i hit) but only looking at the auction i really go for, i'm probably about double that...which isn't great. i've purchased more coins using fixed price listing as of late...and haven't seem to be paying any more than i would for auction prices, at least with a bit of shopping.

    here's my last serrate republican...

  13. Dear Mikey. I am happy that you are glad with your purchase. Indeed, it is a great coin. The reverse have an insignificant die break ( the line ) , but it doesn't affect the overall quality. That's why it wasn't mentioned in NGC encapsulation.
I hope to see you again in our auctions. We offer honest competition and we enforce our policy against shill bidding and fraudulent bidders.
At the end of the day, it's not about money, but about offering great service, to build up a good reputation.
First of all, I'm a collector myself, thus for me it is very important to treat every customer as I would others to treat me.
    Best regards
    Mrs. C.

  17. Dear Red. I would strongly recommend you, to read all big Auction Houses Policy. You would be surprised that some of them, allow the original owners to bid on their coins. That's how some coin's prices would skyrocket beyond logic explanation. However, they give the assurance that all coins are genuine due to high level of their experts. As you see, their insurance comes with high costs.
In contrary, I can assure you that ebay have a lot of honest small dealers, that offer the same level of service with much lower final prices. Also there is ebay money guarantee for 2 months and Paypal guarantee for 6 months.
You can't find any big auction house to offer more that 30 days coverage.
