Scored this gem for ~$17 (photos are close but it still looks better in hand). When I look at it i the level of detail reminds me of really nice solidii. Emperor Valens was the guy that went into typical-Roman-glory-hog mode at the worst possible time, by not waiting for his brother Gratian and his forces to back him up to face the Goths in Thrace so he could achieve the victory and the accompanying glory for himself. They don't get any better than that. On any given day, you can find a thousand of these types in F and lower, a handful in VF. It's a very unusual day to come across one in XF.
