1817 Large Cent

    Just wanted to see what the pictures look like. They always seem to be a little different here. First coin since the 1807 I posted.

    Great catch Mark. I have been working on a Large Cent Collection for about 5 years now. Still have a few to go obviously. They are tougher then one thinks to find decent ones. I cherrypick at the shows now for the overdates. : ) Picked up a 1844/81 at the last show marked as a 44. I think the large cent is one of the most undervalued collections right now.

    something not right in the F in United States OF .... is that doubled or just an image illusion.. it just looks like there is more then the 1 F lol

    Yeah - they are tough to find decent ones. So far I am not sure if I am doing a date set or a red book variety set. Just not sure - I have a long way to go. And from what I have learned here I have 3/4 I will replace.

    As for the "of" - it is not doubled, but it does look like the start of small die cracks (upper right of O and lower left of F).
