I would say its to hard to tell on a coin of this condition to be sure. But maybe someone else has some way to tell.

There are twenty five different Sheldon varieties for the 1797 cent ranging from R-2 to R-8 in rarity, but I don't see enough here to tell you which one this is with any degree of certainty.

Does it have a gripped edge ?

I bought it a few days ago, I wait as it comes, so I do not know yet whether it is gripped edge, back it looks 97, but I think I paid too much for this coin

It isn't a gripped edge. And it isn't one of the stemless wreath varieties.

With some work it may be attributable.

I don't know much about early US coins like that, but you might submit it for attribution. It looks like it would grade Poor-01 details based on the damaged rim and perhaps some environmental damage. But, the experts may be able to attribute it nonetheless.

I know it is not too good condition but I am looking for any information about this coin, whether it is clipped planchet ??and error off center ??

I think that this is the S132, what do you think guys ?

Well I'm not sure how you are seeing that, but there maybe a remnent of the reverse die break through one. Sheldon has it on the low side of R-7 (4-12 known). I'm not sure how up to date this book is though, your coin would have been worth $6.50 at the time if it is a S132.
