Not really. I've found quite a few nice ones like this in my change. Just curious. I would say 65 as well. No major scratches, maybe one below the Y in liberty. Looks like a good strike with Georges hair.
No. But it looks like it has a good start on a rub. I'd go MS-66 but would want tosee it in hand. You'd need about 1500 made for circulation issues to find a nicer one. It's probablyu a mint set example.
Obverse fields look nice and clean...the rims and reeds look sharp and you're free of any significant hits/bag-marks, and I only see two hairlines (@rooman9 pointed them out). Its hard to tell from the pics, but if the high points have no break in luster then that's a 65 all day...or 65+. The first plces to detect wear is the leading edge of George's wig and the curl of hair just behind his ear. Next would be face and neck. That's where the wear will show up first. On this reverse the center of the drummer's hat will show wear first. Nice quarter...change find? You never answered that. Inquiring minds want to know
I received it in change at Starbucks today. The barista said, "wow, you get a shiny new quarter." So, I thought it was an ATB but then saw the drummer on the reverse. This coin is in great shape for 39 years old. Probably was saved in 1976 and just spent recently. TC Chris: Here are some close-ups of LIBERTY. Looks like MD on two letters to me.
I'm in the 65 ballpark, too, but if one person thinks there is doubling on the ear, I'm going to go nuts. Chris
