I picked up this Philip ant. a couple weeks ago. It has really blotch patina so I tried to clean it a little. It's better but not great and still a pain to snap a shot of. The other is a Olbia, Sarmatia dolphin I got at a decent price. Also found a nice trilobite at a thrift shop It's about 1 inch. Philip I, AR antoninianus, 247 AD, Antioch. 4.30 g. Neat => all three purchases are very cool (congrats) ... yah, it is fun to buy some impulse treats every now and then (thanks for showing them)
Nice, the Philip has some character, which I like for some reason. Dolphin is better then the seller's image. And the trilobite is neat, really trilobites are the Gordian IIIs of fossils
Ummm, I have these two cool non-coin examples ... same kinda thing (ancient, but not coins) 2nd Intermediate Period Steatite scarab Circa 1650-1550 BC Diameter: 23 x 16 mm Obverse: Base engraved with an antelope walking right; palm branches in field. A few minor chips and cracks, otherwise intact, part of greenish-brown glaze remaining, pierced for mounting. From the David Hendin Collection 2nd Intermediate Period Steatite scarab Circa 1650-1550 BC Diameter: 21 x 15 mm Obverse: Base engraved with two crocodiles back-to-back. Very cool additions 'randy' !!! Terrific Ant and great 'artifacts'..... I have a few dolphin 'coins' and a trilobite I bought decades ago---the trilobites go back to the Pre-Cambrian period and typically are dated to about 400 million years ago!!.....And, I even picked up a small fragment of a nickel-iron meteorite! If I get a chance, I'll photograph them later today and post them...

Nice Trilobite. I found one in a quarry once a number of years ago. We went on a fossil hunt as part of an Earth Sciences university course.
cool mix of stuff RG! solid ant, cool dolphin, and a cool fossil....now that's ancient! i don't have a philip ant or any fossils, but i have a couple olbia dolphins.
