Head Scratcher I must admit that I've always wondered what the attraction of star notes is.... Of course, the cool thing is that it's only costing face, so you lose nothing. I guess my thinking goes something like this- * there are a whole lot of these. I suppose you might do themes or something, but it would seem like a never-ending collection - almost hoarding. * there's really nothng special about them visually except that *star*. How many do you need? I can't think of anything more boring than looking through pages and pages of star notes. At least $2 notes or the older notes are different and provide some variety. * As far as potential increase in value... I always apply my own test. I ask myself whether I would be willing to pay a premium for what I am collecting. In my own case, I'd be happy to pay a "small" premium for wheaties, pre-1960 nickels, unc state quarters, etc. Would I be willing to pay $1.25 for a normal $1 star note? No. I really couldn't justify it from a visual or investment angle. Of course, it might be in UNC condition or have a weird serial number, but that would apply to any bill. But of course, to each their interest. However, I really have serious reservations about saving more than a few choice specimans. There are just so many more cool items out there.
