They still have 37 coins to go, so they can't stop. I think mintages will drop way off later and this will be a great series by the time it ends.

It's still a stupid coin to mint, it will never circulate, I hate gov't stupidity.

I ask you, what is stupid about taking $1.60 worth of metal throwing them into a roll and selling it for $37.95. Sounds like a sound decision to me. Besides I like them..

At least they're doing something to make modern coinage more interesting. All the other denominations besides the nickel and the state quarters have designs that have remained unchanged since before I was born. Come up with more new things!

As for having an actual circulating 1 dollar coin, that's never really going to happen unless they forecfully get rid of the 1 dollar bill. As long as people have the choice, they'll always prefer a $1 bill over a $1 coin, out of habit if nothing else. Getting rid of the $1 bill in favor of a $1 coin would save the government millions of dollars, but too many legislators shy away from any resistance on this issue to actually get it passed.

The stupidity is not in minting a $1 coin. The stupidity is minting a $1 coin AND a $1 bill. If they really want a $1 coin to circulate, get rid of the bill!

This is what I've been saying all along. This is exactly why any $1 dollar coin never circulated very well. Even the famed Morgan dollar didnt circulate well except for out west in the casinos where it was very popular. I believe these coins would get alot more use without the paper dollar, there wouldnt really be any other choice.

I finally received one in circulation last night, someone left me a tip and part of it was a pres. dollar. This also is the same guy that left me a silver quarter as a tip, so i kinda like him lol

I prefer $1 notes to any of the modern dollar coins... even if they eliminate the $1 note, people will be forced touse the dollar coin, they wont choose to... to Americans, we dont normally like being forced to do anything.. if forced to use a dollar coin without the option of a note... well Americans tend to get disgruntled lol .. to me, thats not a win for the dollar coin. If they want to circulate the dollar coin, make it interesting .. the last 3 were utter failures even before they started. I am an avid banknote collector as well as coins, so that alters my opinion over others on this forum. Any Dollar coin will not 'Succesfully' circulate unless the public wants to use it - even without the dollar note!

    ...IMHO ... :)

They prez dollars are just there for money making purposes for the mint. The only ones I'm really interested in are TR and Ronnie anyway

    hamman88 Spare some change, sir?

I bet a Ronald Regan dollar would be very popular.

Well, we've only got to wait 9 years, 7 months, to find out. :p

Assuming no change in the law, his dollar will be released in November 2016.

I think the purpose of the Prez's is to get us folks to use it, just my 2 cents. Thanks, Douglas

Uh, when using cash, you are "forced" to use quarters instead of 25c notes, right? And not having the option to use $5 circulation coins makes you disgruntled? :p

No, you are not 'forced' to use a quarter instead of a 25c note... fractionals are 'still' legal tender are they not?? :)
