These Pontos decapitation scene coins remind me of the trouble with COL NEMs. It seems impossible to find one with all desired features, and if found, the cost would be extreme. I too would gladly take Zumbly's "ratty" Komana .
Good points. By having the face and the mint, the coin would have needed to have been quite a bit worse for me to have given it a pass. Even knowing there were probably only two or three other people in the world who would've wanted it, I was still quite anxious to place my order and secure the coin .
Yeah but the problem is two or three of the people who would like that coin post here. I'd like TIF and you a whole lot better if you would stop buying coins I like and start buying slabbed commons in EF+ so I could get things like this without competition. Did you notice that we both had nasty things to say about the coin in the hope you would pay one of us to take it off of your hands? Maybe we need to work on our subtly skills just a mite. It is a fact that you could show that coin to a dozen 'professional' dealers who would not have the slightest interest in it and be lucky to find one who could tell Komana from Romana (maybe its a typo?). Enjoy the coin.
Why, just this last CNG auction I refrained from bidding on a coin you were bidding on, Doug . I don't know who won... it was bid up pretty high shortly before closing. I don't even remember which coin it was.
I'm sorry you missed the coin. I don't recall it either. I bid on four coins in this last CNG electronic but won none. I can't even remember which ones they were since only one was serious enough a want to remember. They have very nice specimens of common coins. If a CNG coin fails to sell for more than I'd pay, there was something seriously wrong with it. They rarely deal in the sort of coins I'm willing to pay extra for (low grade but seriously oddball). So far I have one this year with the last previous in 2010. I would never have won this were it not for the scrapes that showed well in their photo. 2010 Akragas litra - I wanted the Boustrophedon legend with R and ignored the scrapes on the eagle head. According to acsearch, I paid way too much for what turned out to be a common coin.
Nope => Doug, it was an Alexandrian thingy ... TIF told me that you were bidding on it (an A-Pius with a prow maybe?) anyway => I am totally jealous of both of your stupid Medusas from rare mints (both of you guys suck)
