Well, I am not sure on that one, but maybe they can tell you how that works. I figure they have a professionally accepted way of doing it. It came out much better than it was
A bath in MS70 (which is basically soap and water) will loosen up the dirt on a silver / clad coin so it can be rinsed off. A quick dip in E-Zest will remove the outer layer (skin). If the time of the dip is too long and not properly rinsed off, the chemicals in the dip will eat away at the outer lay ruining the coin (in my opinion).
Examples of a quick dip in E-Jest. Pick this coin up on eBay in an old ANACS holder PR66: After about a 5 second bath in E-Jest, 15-20 second rinse from warm tap water and then a finial rinse in distilled water – packaged and sent to PCGS for grading and True View Photo (Upgraded to PR67):
Not my coin, but newly listed on eBay with a BUY IT NOW for $14.95. So yes, minor varieties for 1964-D not listed in the Cherrypickers' Guide, even in low uncirculated condition, are not worth much more the 25 - 30 dollars. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1964-D-Kenn...se-Uncirculated-Condition-3288p-/111707126494?

(language) Even the description you quoted says “… triple on WE TRUST and hair above and behind the ear”. PCGS coin number 96707 is the 1964-D DDO-003. Even on the Coin fact page you site, not once does it say DDO-014. Feel free to look in the PCGS Population Reports to see where #96707 is.
Just in case you can not connect the dots ..... PCGS Coin Number 96707 is the variety in post 47 that you sited in post 58 when you told the OP "I'm pretty sure it is the one in post 47".
Again, image in coin fact says TDO, theres no way around that .. Don't really care about anything else . Maybe you should call PCGS and tell them about your concerns with their coin fact page ...

(language) PCGS coin # 96707 is the same variety as PCGS coin # 146010, they both are the CONECA 1964-D DDO-003 or also known as the FS – 13.5 or FS – 103. Are you with me so far? Yes, the 1964-D FS-103 has tripling on WE TRUST as illustrated in the photos you posted from Coin Facts. The photos you posted has nothing to do with the 1964-D DDO-014. Are you still with me? As you pointed out, a MS65 version of this variety (FS – 103) is worth more than a MS63 example the OP asked about. I assure you that the PCGS graded MS66 that I have is worth considerately more than the MS65 examples you sighted. I hope even you can realize that the value of an MS63 coin is worth less than a MS65. Below is a snap shot of my screen showing what coins # will go into the slot for the 1964-D TDO FS-103. Again, you better get a hold of PCGS and tell them their cherry picker number does match coneca number. Just another mistake by PCGS, does that surprize you ..
Heres the cherry picker number PCGS is using from coneca data base .. 964-D DDO-003 Designation: 3-O-V-CCW from K-11; FS-50-1964D-103 (13.5) Description: Strong spread on date, IN GOD WE TRUST, and L and TY of LIBERTY, with triple on WE TRUST and hair above and behind the ear Grade: MS65 Population: 15 Markers: Master Die / Master Die UVC-043 DMR-005 Stage A: EDS (unconfirmed) Stage B: Die scratches South-Southwest around B of LIBERTY – MDS Reverse is RDV-002 (Flared G) – MDS Reverse is LISTED as RPM-006 Heavy die gouge North from upper Left E of STATES to rim Stage C: Obverse and Reverse are LDS
There is no mistake.... Both PCGS coin numbers are the same "critter". PCGS did the same thing with 1974-D DDO, the 1964 AH Proof and the 1979-s & 1981-S T2 (they all have two PCGS coin numbers) EDIT TO ADD: One PCGS coin number will cost you $18 to have the FS number on it and the other PCGS coin number is free without the FS number.
Rick I have 8 or 10 1964 Kennedy in perfect conditions and not sure about grading. You think thats a good idea?
