I'm embarrassed to say I've never gone. There are typically 3 to 4 shows a year in Raleigh, enough to keep me satisfied, so I've never attended out of town shows.
These are the shows I hear are best to hit if you are looking for relatively decent shows in North Carolina The Raleigh Money Expo (June) The Lower Cape Fear Coin Club Spring Show (April I believe, correlates to the Azalea Festival) The NCNA Show (October) The 4 shows in Raleigh and Charlotte hosted by Dot Hendrick (Spring and Fall) Thats about all of the better shows that I know about. The Rare Coins of Raleigh hosted shows seem to be hit or miss depending upon where you are located.
That was this weekend's show. That's in Wilmington. Have never been to it, but had two dealers this weekend complain that it's not well attended. Dot's shows are a little smaller, but always solid. She's a great lady.
I asked the ANACS guy about the NCNA show (they also send a rep to that show). He said it's smaller than the Raleigh show, but I still might try to attend -- it's only about an hour's drive for me. We'll see what my situation is in October.
Here was a wonderful surprise in this months issue of the E-Gobrecht newsletter published by the Liberty Seated Collectors Club.
