A couple of weeks ago I started to feel the onset of burnout. Brick searching was yielding the occasional listed doubled column, or other minor variety, so I decided to take a break. Long story short, I decided to crack open a roll last night and boom, a variety I've wanted to find for some time now! There's a black spot on LIBERTY, but otherwise it a decent coin.
Minor varieties? You've got that right! I'd be willing to bet that the minor varieties for moderns outnumber all other varieties by 10-to-1. One of the reasons I find some of these "variety" sites suspect is because some of them not only authenticate these "minor" varieties for a fee but also sell these so-called varieties. How else are they expected to stay in business. Chris
