I have an opportunity to get one of the Hall of Fame baseball gold coins - 2014-W certified MS70 and wanted to know what the street value of these were without the "player's fame" premium. Anyone collect these or know the approximate value today, and what they sold for new?
ebay is your friend, search for sold listings... http://www.ebay.com/sch/Modern-Gold...534&Denomination=%245&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1
Graded MS70 by whom? Please excuse my stupidity, but what is the "player's fame" premium? I didn't follow the release of these, nor did I buy any. Chris
Chris- PCGS and NGC slabbed the coins with a signed/facsimile signed HOF player on the insert. OP is asking whether Joe Shlabotnik's sig adds value ... and how much
'Street value'??? What exactly does 'street value' mean???? Sounds like we are talking about something that fell off the back of a truck, or street drugs.
Well, if you believe that the fantasy labels are part of the descent of the TPGs into the netherworld, it's wholly appropriate...
Thank you Stewart! It's graded by one of the 3 reputable TPG's, I'm seeing prices all over the place and they seem to be dependent on the player's name a lot. I have to figure there are some "rare player" premiums involved. I have a good opportunity, I'll post on whether I take it and some pictures if I do. Cheers!
Signatures are just hype , if they're signing coins they're probably signing thousands of other stuff . If you want to know what premium , find out what that signature is worth alone and then add that .
Of course they are. And ONE of the TPGs . I don't remember which - use an actual live signature (the other is a facsimile). At least if you crack out the live signature you can sell the card for the 10 Bucks the player gets for signing it. The whole thing just leaves a bad smell... But people pay good money and more money to have it done. It's all about the Benjamins
I picked up a 75th Anniversary Mike Trout MS70 2014-W $5 Gold Coin for a good price today. It's going into the safe for a while unless someone just really has to have it (and proves it with a generous offer!) Cheers!
