I'm sure there are still some 70 in these sets, b/c most people is not gonna send the coins in for grading.
Well, as long as I have my set, none of us will know if it has a 70 in it or not. Only I have looked at it, I haven't shown it to another soul, and I have zero interest in EVER having it graded. In fact, I have dozens and dozens of modern commems the same way.
Still looking good for this set, prices holding in the $100+ range for raw. The number of MoD listings on eBay appears to be declining from a high of around 550 to 437 today. It also appears the number of whole sets has declined even more as the listings appear to be more for individual graded coins and fewer raw sets.
I thought "that ship has sailed" when I first looked at the cartoon, but I think its actual point is "missed the boat"...
Listings on eBay declined further today to 429. A quick review of the first page of listings looks like around half of the listings are for single coins, so only half are for full sets.
I received my set last week. From a visual aspect, not the most inspiring group of coins, but at least there's the unique factor.
Definitely unique! An "Oldtimer" came into the shop looking for an uncirculated 1946-s, announcing, it's the last one he needs to complete his Roosy set. I asked if he heard about the MoD dimes and he said, "What?". Showed him the set, he loved and bought it and ordered another one.
I looked at ebay final sales for these sets graded, and the recent highest for the 70s for all three, were around 250.00 A bit of a markdown as suspected. The waves on this one are surely starting to settle I think. May take awhile for the complete calm. I have a raw set as well. I'm tempted to take them out of their capsules and put into an album.
Not in the least. He didn't say. "Back the truck up", like some have said. I have three regular customers that are hoarding these dimes/sets.
