Got this in the mail today. The cleaning on the reverse isn't nearly as bad as it looks, but it has some other minor issues. Overall a nice coin IMO.

Congrats on the NEWP. Looks like a neat coin, and I love these early bust coins!!!

Please excuse the tangent, but this issue has been bothering me for some time....

Zaneman, You sure seem to buy a lot of coins. Let me ask you a few quesitons, if you don't mind....

Have you tried to sell any of them?

How did your offers compare to what you paid?

    Just wondering & respectfully submitted....Mike

    Mike,
I've sold many of the coins I have bought. For the most part I have sold them for more than I paid, but on roughly about 10/50 coins I have sold since I left PCGS I either broke even or lost some money. My overall profit margin margin so far has been 31.2%

I'll also add that my strategy for selling is simply go to about 10 stores daily, offering coins, and if they offer me more than I paid for it I take it. Coins that I cannot sell due to problems, I sell on ebay, offering clear pictures, and of course describing the problems.

I'm starting to learn what dealers pay strong money for what coins, and then buying coins I know they will pay good money for.

Thank you for answering my questions, and your response puts to rest some of the concern I had. Take care...Mike

zaneman, nice coin. Do you mind saying what you paid for it?

I paid about 700 for it, which I am sure many people think is entirely too much. Regrettably, these are hard to come by problem free, and they are scarce to begin with. I find that greysheet on early draped coins are very, very low compared to what many dealers/collectors will pay for a coin.

Wow, nice coin! :thumb: I have an 1820, but not in that condition. Not a bad price either. :thumb:

There are a few early series like that. Try buying an honestly graded 1824 quarter for even trends value....seems nearly impossible.

There's the old saying "you can throw the sheet out on that coin."

    Indeed,
It seems to me that the any draped bust silver coin, and capped series, and seated series often sell for wayyyyyyyy over sheet, particularly if you are lucky enough to find a completely original example.

I haven't even run across an 1824 capped bust quarter in my search for one.

I currently have a complete date set minus the 1824 and the 1823.

Plus the dimes, quarters, and halves are much scarcer than the dollars of the type.

The last one I saw on ebay was cleaned and scratched with about VG-8 details and it brought Fine-12 retail trends money!

Nice dime Zane. I really like the draped bust and seated dimes and quarters. There's alot of low mintage, very affordable coins in those series.
