Guys there is an awful lot of buildup on the top of the MM. I don't think it was a hit but perhaps a die chip. If it was a hit where did all the extra metal come from?

To me it appears as though the metal from the top of the D got pushed down into the middle. The indention on the tail of the 9 and bottom of the 1 provides additional evidence towards this being a hit since they line up with the questionable area on the mint mark.
