Just look and enjoy. My friend's coin that he asked me to photograph. NGC MS65 BN. For some unknown reason, it doesn't have a star...
Beautiful coin, stunning, wowzers. btw...I think I might know a guy who can help your friend out Spoiler
I bet some vinegar and some TLC from a wire brush could get that "unsightly" color off of it... Just kidding! That is a beautiful coin. It probably should have the star on it. Or a CAC sticker. Or both.
P.S. NGC is very inconsistent with its star designation. I agree that the piece should have received a star.
You're a dealer, CBD? I'm curious what the retail price would be if that coin were sold in your store. Not consigned by your friend, but if you owned it, what would you set the price at? Beautiful coin.
I find myself wondering how the grader must feel about typing the "BROWN" designator for a coin like that. It's the only choice, of course, since the coin is not at all "RED", but still...
When the coin isn't in the light, the greenish color in the centers appears more brown. But the purples and reds around the peripherals are exactly as shown. Nothing "brown" about them.
I'm curious, not being an expert on cents, does the grader have the option of not putting any color designator?
