Grease in die? Usually most common cause of lost detail in little nooks like that. If it were incuse I could buy it was a chipped die.
I wouldn't think so sir but I am not an expert in modern coins. Hopefully @statequarterguy or another modern collector can chime in and answer you with more knowledge of these.
Without a better close-up, my first impression is that the tip of the star took a hit and it is PMD. It looks like the metal on the eastern side is pushed up slightly. I could be wrong, but like I said, I'd need a better close-up. Chris

An ipad, or most phones aren't good enough to take anything but quick snapshots. A clip-on closeup attachment might help ( https://www.opensky.com/vistashops/...6ff801001d34&gclid=CIu2vcGrsMYCFdgKgQodsMIG7A ). You need an actual camera with macro abilities to do the work of a closeup camera.
