What if any insurance do you have for your collections? If so, how does it work? Do I get a professional appraisal with current value and update it periodically? Photos of the inventory? Thanks.

I use HWI (Hugh Wood Insurance)as well.

I maintain an itemized inventory in my QuickBooks software. I believe photos are required for individual items valued at more than $10k . . . I try not to inventory items above that price point.

You can get the quote customized for many variables . . . taking coins to / from auctions or shows, coverage for trips to / from safe deposit box, coverage for mailing coins, etc.

Hugh Wood. Do a search here on CoinTalk, you'll find a ton of info.

Thanks. My collection has grown, and although I'm no numismatic expert, its value is now worth protecting. Of course you guys have me all screwed up. Thought I was done for a while except now I want toned halves, ancients, a pillar dollar and a gobrecht dollar!

    Yep, Hugh Wood.
You need to be an ANA member to get the best rates.

They have never asked for an inventory, just a list of any coins that cost over $10,000.
