What if any insurance do you have for your collections? If so, how does it work? Do I get a professional appraisal with current value and update it periodically? Photos of the inventory? Thanks.
I use HWI (Hugh Wood Insurance)as well. I maintain an itemized inventory in my QuickBooks software. I believe photos are required for individual items valued at more than $10k . . . I try not to inventory items above that price point. You can get the quote customized for many variables . . . taking coins to / from auctions or shows, coverage for trips to / from safe deposit box, coverage for mailing coins, etc.
Thanks. My collection has grown, and although I'm no numismatic expert, its value is now worth protecting. Of course you guys have me all screwed up. Thought I was done for a while except now I want toned halves, ancients, a pillar dollar and a gobrecht dollar!
Yep, Hugh Wood. You need to be an ANA member to get the best rates. They have never asked for an inventory, just a list of any coins that cost over $10,000.
