You can look at it as gambling that's impossible to lose at - maybe you'll hit the jackpot, maybe you'll find a silver/proof/key date or two, but even if you don't, the common date coins you have are still worth what you paid for them. I might never buy another scratch ticket again - why bother when you can get a roll of half dollars, and just maybe there's $200 worth of silver in there?

$4 Halves from teller tray: Skunk

    $80 CWR Nickels:13 pre-1960 keepers, including a 43-P war nickel. Oldest find was a 39 from Philly.

I agree with Theshoegazer, I'll take my chances finding a treasure in a box of coins over a trip to the casino just about every time... Now if the bank would set up a buffet we'll be all set. :)

I got 9 rolls of Jeffersons from my bank to practice grading. One of the rolls turned out to be absolutely stunning nearly proof-like coins.

But wait. Where's the steps? Where's the pillars? Where's Jefferson's hair?

I have a whole roll of super-shiny AG's. I hope they had fun cleaning them. :)

Not a roll find, but should share anyway.. Four type B quarters. Three from "junk" silver, one from a mint set. The three junk silver B quarters were a '56, '57, and a '58, and the mint set one a '59.

Getting 'skunked' is just part of the coin roll hunting game. I've been skunked for 6 months on silver but have found two 43-P war nickels this month, one in a BWR and the other in a CWR. What you find over time is what really matters and makes us want to keep doing it. Thanks for your post.

I was reading in one of the other threads where a guy was stating that he usually finds approximately 1 wheat in every 3 cent rolls. After I got done going through my penny rolls tonight, I was thinking about replying to him that I hadn't found a wheat in 20+ rolls. Needless to say I was getting kinda frustrasted. Well, going through the last half of my last roll tonight, I noticed a coin that at first glance I thought was just a Canadian out of the corner of my eye. Upon closer inspection, I discovered it was a 1903 Indian Head!! This is easily the oldest cent I have found while coin roll hunting. Although, I've only been doing it for ~5 months maybe.

My pick up bank handed me another brick of 2015-P cents this week, so not much copper mining this week, but it's another box on the pile for "what if" searching or maybe selling whole for a small premium down the road. I've got $80 CWR nickels I'm going to try to go through while the laundry is doing its thing this morning... so there's always hope of a good find there.

After two exceptional weeks of CRH halves, I'm back to normal: two boxes halves- 1- 40%(1967), 1- proof (2004-S), and 7- NIFC. Oh, well, I guess all things return to the norm.

  14. Went to the bank to see if they had any halves and I came out with a no motto 1935 G Douglas Dillon silver certificate and a 1974 D Ike

$80 CWR nickels and not a hint of silver. Had a total of 12 "keepers" ranging from 1939-1959, all circulated or worse.

Hit up 4 banks looking for halves today. Two didn't have any, one gave me 4 rolls of skunk. The last bank, though, had 60 bucks in CWR.

    Someone's grandparents must have died.

96 1965-1969 halves in great condition

    3 1964's

And last but not least, 2 BU 1970 D's.

I guess it goes without saying that this was my best find ever...
