I have a feeling I did pretty well. I paid $32. I'm looking for any info you have on it plus value.

Thanks for any help! image.jpg image.jpg

if its gold you did pretty good, the gold value would be $46 if it actually weighs 2.4 grams

Isn't that a terrible sophomoric rendering of Washington?

It's not beautiful to me, but apparently this is a thing that really exists. They're even listed at APMEX, although they're out of stock and there's no picture on the listing. Google george washington bicentennial 500 fine gold, and you'll know about as much as I do. It's possible, of course, that it's a lower-purity fake, but I don't think there's a big market in fakes of these lesser-known issues.

Unlike silver, there isn't normally much of a discount when trading lower-purity gold. You got this at about 3/4 of melt. I'll buy gold all day long and into the night at that kind of discount. You shouldn't have any trouble selling it for its full melt value.

    Good find!

What I found is that it is Franklin Mint, sculpted by Gilroy Roberts, issued under the series "the bicentennial council of the thirteen original states" mintage of 32,306. If the Internet is to be believed. Ha ha!

So after everybody who really had to have one these got one, there were only 32,300 left.:p
