Miss liberty makes the most sense though. She isnt one woman, she represents all women, and really all people, but we can let the ladies have her this time. She wouldnt be an individual glorified like Harriet Tubman or Amelia Earhart, which you would then have to find suitable places for the next woman, etc, etc, etc if you only choose 1 woman out of all the great ones who have done tremendous things for this country.

Since we are commemorating voting rights, and that in and of itself being a liberty, it really does make sense to have Lady Liberty depicted.

The Liberty to vote, the Liberty to do as we please, the Liberty to progress this great nation. No woman who has walked this earth could possibly live up to the image of our Lady Liberty.

The largest problem with using her is that most women dont collect coins, and dont really know the heritage of Lady Liberty, if they did, they most certainly would vote for her, as she has always had their ideals firmly rooted in her being.

Yeah it would be cool. But I can already hear the whining about "couldn't even use a real woman" or some crap.

Would that be "whining"? The men depicted are actually real persons, and women should only be represented by some allegorical figure? Now the US may have good reasons for only allowing politicians on its circulating money, no scientists or artists for example, but that does not mean they have to be male. :)

If they are tying it to the 100th anniversary of the womens right to vote Amendment in 1920, expect a women's suffragette such as Susan B Anthony or Elizabeth Cady Stanton. (Amelia Bloomer? Inventer of wmens Bloomers)

If it's in the spirit of some sort of equality warrior struggle, then yeah, I'd probably classify it as whining. You can try to be representative of the country's founding & history, or you can create artificial equality in an artificial battle. Now, if it was more in the sense of what you stated, then, touché. :)

Saw an interesting article on this earlier today. Thought I'd share:

There is no doubt it's going to be Eleanor Roosevelt, the "wife of a president"...and it's obvious why they are doing this now.

I bet if they put this to a vote, 90% of the people won't know what Miss Liberty is. That's how politically correct we are.
