Anybody ever heard of "LINCOLN. COIN. GRADING. SERVICE"? - - HERE - - is the listing. Somehow that holder looks a lot like NNC to me.
notice this guys 25% restocking fee on returns, pretty steep charge. Must a lot of heavy lifting involved ?
I would bet that Dave459's last name is Lincoln, as in Lincoln Coin Grading Service. Our problems with grading are now solved. Come up with our own grading service and everything gets a 70
There was a guy on the PCGS forum talking about wanting to start his own grading service that would a=only certify Lincolns. I have to wonder if his is his attempt. I don't accept this as even a fly-by-night service. In the auctions he doesn't show the labels, (in some completed ones he shows a label bu doen't call them by this name.), no company initial, no barcode, no serial number, no hologram etc. Just an anonymous label on a generic slab shell.
Is Stevesgiftshop a TPG ??? (there should be a Basil State coin slabber....we only slab coins as BS-0....)
Really..... Who cares about these no name "graders" I might take a hit for this... If it isn`t NGC, PCGS, or ANACS (some may include ICG, but I don`t) Then the coin has NO MARKET VALUE PREMIUM as being a reputable TPG coin. SGS is the most infamous example of fake TPG coins being sold to newbies and the great unwashed, just as if they were comparable to accepted TPG coins. Learn to grade yourself!!!!! As we all know, PCGS, and NGC and ANACS often get it wrong. You can read these forums war stories about under and overgraded coins from the main 3 TPG. (OK maybe 4, for you ICG fans) My point is... FORGET all these NO-Name Who-cares Third Party Graders (TPG)
Jerome, there's a big difference between a self-slabber & a T.P.G..What do you mean by Basil State? It sounds like John Cleese's character in Fawlty Towers. Here's the link to the British slabber; www.cgs-uk.biz . Aidan.
basal state - The condition of a coin that is identifiable only as to date mint mark (if present), and type; one-year-type coins may not have a date visible. In other words, a coin that worn so badly it is barely identifiable.
Another self slabber and an auction with poor pictures to grade with. Anyway, I think this coin is AU, as i looks like there is a rub on Lincoln's cheek. There color of the copper is slightly different where the rub is located.
