possible 1939 double monticello? thanks for your help, newbie here.

    Hello, new to coin collecting. I got this nickle in my change yesterday. Thoughts on double monticello, any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

    I don't believe it is, but will have to look on my laptop to double check. It is a reverse of 1940, so at least it is the right hub for it.

    Nice find even if its not a double monticello...a 76 year old coin still in circulation!

    I don't see it in those Photos. Here is 1939 that I picked up because the die deterioration on it is so severe. The whole reverse of this coin is pretty much like the below picture

    I agree sorry no.... if you truly had a 39 double you would know it no questions asked.

    Most assuredly since the "doubling" is not limited just to MONTICELLO:

    Is that a die crack on the obv in front of the forehead?
    And between the "IN " looks like something aswell as a ghostly number 6 or 9 in front of the letter I.?
    Might just be my imagination[emoji196]
