Recently I've realized that I'm not just an Ike dollar fan, but and Ike fan in general. Here are some of my more recent additions to my Ike collection.

A couple of points of interest...

The top item is a 1969 Captive Nations Medal with Ike's bust facing left. I purchased it at a club auction recently. Still researching it.

The left Ike dollar is a 1977 which I pulled from its original mint packaging. It has a deep golden brown toning to the whole coin. Makes it stand out. Not sure the pic does it justice.

    Anyways, thought I'd share.

It's too bad the latest "golden" dollar rendition of Ike is, how to type this, not so realistic. I wish they had taken more time in the design to make it look more like him.

I have a collection of the Silver Ikes.

I once had a fantasy European ECU 'coin' with Ike on the obverse that I think dated from the 1950s. It was over 40 years ago and I can't remember what happened to it and have never seen another one since.

Did you know "I Like Ike" was an actual campaign slogan? I suppose you did. But I'll bet some of you others didn't know. But even if you did know, it still was. :)

I want to like Ike, but I can't seem to find any nice ones at the shows I've been attending. :/ I'm looking for toned pieces for a type set, and it's hard to find nice, attractive, naturally toned Ikes.

Here is a pic of another thing named for Ike. The west portal of the Eisenhower tunnel.

paddy, the blank...what is something like that worth?
BTW, for some of our younger collectors, "Ike" was the supreme commander of Allied Expeditionary Forces in World War II invasion, better known as D-Day! Another great example of how coins and U.S. history are closely tied. I was 3 years old when he took office as President in 1951 and can remember my father talking about him.

I have seen a few nicer examples sold by Fred Weinberg on his EBay store for about $300 - $500 bucks! I paid less than $200 because the bidding was slow that time so I got lucky. Or maybe nobody wanted a Details grade error.

    ancient Chinese secret!

Just kidding! I'm using my Samsung tablet and took a screenshot of your profile which saves it as a jpg (picture), then used an app called Aviary to draw the red circle on the pic and saved it.

BTW, I caught 13 fish today! 3 bass (not keepers) and 10 nice size bluegill.

Good Luck on your quest. Nice IKE's much less toned IKE's at coin shows are rarer than a priest at the Adult Video Awards!

And when you do find a "toned IKE" at a coin show, expect to pay serious money for it.
