Can anyone recommend a book that they have read themselves on grading Peace Dollars? (key words - have read themselves, not seen on a bookshelf or heard from someone else) Specifically a book that notes the grading intricacies of the various years and mints? Thanks in advance!
I know that a popular publication is: The Comprehensive Catalogue and Encyclopedia of U.S. Morgan and Peace Dollars by Van Allen & Mallis I've got a First and a Fourth Edition but search around for whatever is the latest. This is the source for the VAM varieties which are important if you are going beyond just dates and mint marks.
Roger Burdette's A Guide Book of Peace Dollars is my go-to source. The historical research itself is worth the price of the book. Less than $16 on Amazon.
