It was my understanding that the 1 oz. gold coin was to be minted for one year only, in 2006 (2006 Buffalo). With the time frame of one year offseted by the calender year, buffalo mintage would still continue into 2007, which is the case. My question is - is this the last 1 oz. pure gold coin minted? or is this the last Buffalo gold coin? or will this be a series continued like the AGEs? I bought the 2006 proof and am thinking about the 2007 proof, but i won't buy it if becomes a series.
the 24karat gold buffalo is intended to be a series.. it is also my understandfing that the coin this year will include a 1/2 ounce, quarter and 10th ounce coins as well ... im not sure if the buffalo unc will have all 4 varieties ...
Have you noticed that the buffalo proofs or the "Circs" haven't increased in value on ebay? No real spike in prices that I can see. Anyone else notice this?
Yea I got my copy of coin world today and its big headline is .9999 fractionals in doubt. Guess it makes good headlines. Would not mind having a gold coin of Pluto, the x planet. maybe saturn with the rings on the edges like the presidential coin lettering. If they make one of the national parks, they would probably have a Buffalo on there somewhere.
The coin's demand hasn't exhausted the supply yet (in fact, you can still get the 2006's directly from the Mint!) so the only real fluctuation in value has been directly due to the price of gold.
