Friends Welcome... I found this one a few years ago.The print is so faint that I can barely see the 1987 and there seem be another 7. The rev is clean. There is some light Doubling on the Face area as well. Is this a US mint Error? Appreciate your vote on the coin. God Bless Beck
Agreed, the photo of the reverse looks great, but the obverse looks fuzzy. Can you try retaking it? Having said that, it does look like it was cleaned a lot or it had a die cap. Try another photo and see what others say.
This Cent is very interesting. It looks like a Strike Through just like I mentioned on your other Cent you shared with us. Question is what type of Strike Through? Could be grease or cloth.
Does this mean I found something worth while. Do you need more images.I'll gladly take more images under different lighting more sharper if you need. Please kindly let me know...Thanks for letting me showcase the coins. Stuck Thru Die Cap... I'll google it up and see how rare that is... Some pic show that its a 5 at the end of 198 some show its a 7 and then 7. I'll work on some more pic..for friends.
Yes, it's worthwhile. While generic capped die strikes are common and generally fetch only about $5, the as-yet unexplained doubling enhances both its value and interest.
Definitely a cool coin. I'd likely pay $20 for something like that so I'm sure you'd get more if you looked around or got it graded (which is a pretty costly process so might not be worth that effort).
Friends, I really appreciate your honest advise. Just a few months ago I sent off to ANACS five coins and paid 250.00 dollars thinking that they were double dye coins. And the result was nothing..... I just got them back in boxes with ...well MS numbers...I guess lucky on that. Thanks for your advise ...I was counting it in on my NEXT five to send in for grading.Maybe better to wait and really have a powerfull vote to send it in or not to on future finds. God Bless PS: I just brought some Confedrate Paper Money, and thank GOD one those is listed on the Heritage Auction site.
There are people you can send coins to for attribution. Check the Coneca website. If you join Coneca it's only $4.00 per coin, plus you get a neat magazine!
I said the same thing until I realized how in focus the reverse photo was. The obverse is actually in the same focus, it just is struck through something that makes it look blurry.
