I was just viewing what will be coming out next, which is hockey, then decided to view upcoming coins. Holy cow, they are slowly going to be released over the next 2 years. In total there will be 12 quarters and 2 loonies. Do you think it's worth spending 30.00 now and getting the whole set from the mint? 30.00 plus tax and shipping OR 5.00 from the til...hmmmm
lol... according to this page..U.S can buy them too http://www.mint.ca/royalcanadianmintpublic/index.aspx?requestedPath=/en-CA/Home/default.htm On another coin site they featured a santa claus quarter, so was checking that too because Ive never seen one. The only place the mint had the fat guy featured was inside of a watch. So I guess someone broke the guy out.
Actually, they will be releasing them over a period of 3 years. 12 Olympic quarters (10 Olympic, 2 Paralympic), and 2 Loonies (they already released Olympic Loonies in 2004 and 2006). To make it even more exciting, they are will also release 3 more quarters after the Olympics and they will be bronze, silver, and gold coloured. The public will get to pick the reverses for those quarters. I've been buying the rolls (from the bank, not from the mint, so I can crack them open) as they come out, with the hopes of having a bunch of complete sets that I can trade for things I don't have. (Obviously, it'll take a couple of years).
The Mint did a colourised Santa quarter in 2004. It goes for $CA 33 (or $US 28.21) from my favourite dealer.
I guess that depends if you can wait till around the end of 2009 to finish the set. personally I do not like the card the complete set comes in, to big and bulky.
Did you have any troubles getting the rolls? I have been wanting to head over to a Royal Bank to get some but its a bit out of my way, and I do not really want to go if they will not sell me a roll.
Yeah the mint showed one in a sleigh..is that the one? The other the guy was showing was just santa...big and plump..lol Hockey is out this month..did you get one yet? wheelchair - july 2007 biathlon - sept 2007 alpine skiing - oct 2007 snowboard - feb 2008 freestyle skiing - april 2008 figure skating - sept 2008 bobsleigh - oct 2008 speed skating - feb 2009 cross country skiing - april 2009 ice sledge hockey - june 2009 lucky loonie - july 2008 2010 lucky loonie - nov 2009 Ive decided to collect quarters. I need one more (feb) for the 1999 set 3 more for the 2000 set (family, harmony, community) Then of course there are the different ones from 2001 to 2006
No problem at all. I work a few doors down from an RBC. Just go to the business deposit window (the vault) and ask for one. They were happy to oblige, and I'm not even an RBC customer (they never asked anyway).
No, not that one, the one below. lol Yeah, I got the hockey. It was out April 3rd, I believe. You can still get the curling ones too. When I went in, they asked me which one I wanted, as they still had rolls left. I'll keep my eyes peeled for you on the 1999 and 2000. The 1992 Provincial quarters are the tough ones to find. If you find the colourised ones (poppy, pink ribbon) in good shape, grab them. They're getting scarcer, too. You should have no trouble finding the 2004 or any of the 2005s (Veterans, Alberta and Saskatchewan). Even the 2006 Bravery ones are starting to show up regularly.
Can you please post some photos of the coins,as there are people here who haven't even seen the designs, let alone the coins themselves? I hope that they're circulation pieces & not like those 25c. crown-sized medal-coins - Bullwinkle Quarter & Queen Elizabeth II's 80th. Birthday. Aidan.
Aidan - they're all at the mint's website (including the ones not released yet). www.mint.ca - I'd post pics of the ones I have, but my scanner doesn't like me and the camera pic came out all blurry. That's why my wife takes all the pictures. And they are all normal circulation coins (unless you want the first day issues). I think that one huge "quarter" was the only one like that, as I've never seen them. (Not even that one!)
I have most except the colorized versions and the pink ribbon with all ribbons in pink for 92's I have Ontario and Nova Scotia. What kills me is I use to have the entire set...but times were tough and food was a necessity. Boy, did my coin collection suffer then...lmao Keep your eyes peeled for 1992 New Brunswick - rotated die 2000P quarter 1999 September/November - missing 25 cent
