...its in rough shape but still fun to find. They are so small. Its my 2nd one found. The other is a 1840. Found a 1864 2 center today along with some mercs and rosies.
Super cool, Jim. Boy, if that thing could talk, imagine the stories it would tell. Half dimes sure are small, aren't they? One of these days you'll find a trime. They're even smaller.
I really need to find a big show up in your area so that I can have the excuse to bring my metal detector up your way. I went out this weekend and finally found something that took the place of my corroded Washington Quarter. Yesterday, I found a very corroded Half Dollar. I can tell it is a Kennedy by the fact that it is clad, yet no clue as to date or mint. But standing at fifty cents, it is my most valuable find to date
Any good metal detecting places out here in south oklahoma that ya know of??? I have an old metal detector.... Allthough I know not how to operate the thing, I can make it beep
Sometimes I think the metal detector finds are more interesting than the higher graded coins. Especially since they're found where they were originally circulated. It really makes me think about the history. Great find!
I would love to do the opposite National. You live in some great old trodden earth. Would love to go sweepin over your ground. You keep at it and you'll pull in some keepers. I'm sure you must know of someone with an old home that would let you detect it. Once ya find some old coins. You'll be hooked. Jim
