i am looking to break free from using a standard desk stapler to secure my 2x2 holders. i'm tired of having to flatten the staples after each coin and my hand hurts after a dozen or so staples. my father uses a plier type stapler, but his model is not a flat clinch type. any suggestions for a stapler that uses standard staples but has a flat clinch? i want to give one to my father as a thank you gift for helping me get started in the hobby. -Steve
I use a thin piece of metal on the bottom plate. Note that the bottom plate where the staple hits is indented so the staples go into that slot and form the bump you end up with. Place a thin piece of metal there instead. If you purchase the normal Swingline stapler that plate is usually turnable so that one way you get a staple turned in and if you turn the plate the legs of the staple turn out. I just measured the plate, cut a piece of sheet metal to that size and put it in that spot. Now all staples flatten.
Or you could just buy the 2 by 2s that are self adhesive, no staples needed. I think JPs Corner sells them.
You know, thats something that I never thought of. Ive never used them personally but what you said makes alot of sense.
You could try this model. there is a small stapler and a regular flat clinch. http://www.brent-krueger.com/stapler.html
I don't like those either due to I reuse 2x2's a lot and pulling those apart makes them less and less usable. Also, to new and the glue may or may not be great on coins. I still like my idea due to cost. I borrow staplers from work, Also the staples, got the small piece of sheet metal from a neighbor so total cost = 0. Now that is the price I like.
found a flat clinch stapler for a good deal... http://www.officebella.com/devStoreProductDetails.asp?idProGroup=7141 and a pack of 5000 staples http://www.officebella.com/devStoreProductDetails.asp?idProduct=16339 -Steve
