I recall as a young lad ( I was very active on a bidboard) I somehow got a flying eagle cent with the vowel in cent altered to a much later vowel in the alphabet, if you get the drift, the proprieter of the bidboard ( Gordon D, GCX) had to pull the item, I didn't know I was like 12 !

Anybody from CT know of the old Downer brothers in Guilford ?

About the funniest thing that happened to me was - I used to live in a three story house with basement and hardwood floors. My coin room (basically the attic) was at the very top. I was checking pennies into the wee hours of the night when I came across what I thought was a 1995 DDO in about AU condition ... I was so thrilled, I grabbed my 10x loupe to double check the details when the coin slipped out of my hand and proceeded to roll down every single set of stairs and came within an inch of hitting the farthest wall in the basement. It took me days to find it! I was absolutely astonished at the path that coin took! I always say that was the coin that wanted to escape from being in my collection. It's amazing because I used to take LESSER pennies and try to repeat the scenario and not once did I ever get past the first set of stairs. It truly was that accidental 'Hole in One!' hehehe :) The good news was, it did turn out to be a DDO.

Another funny thing was my 11 year old son and I were beating on a brand new Washington about a month ago. I had bought two rolls of them, opened them and collected what I needed to collect and since they were so shiney and nice, we couldn't resist having a little fun - (we don't destroy them - we just play). Of course, kids have no problems being mean to money either! :) hehehehe and yes, my son respects coins and is a coin collector himself. Every now and then though it's fun to take a few commons and play - especially brand new shiney ones. Well we were scratching them with each other and different things and we wanted to find out if we could actually dent one by tossing it on the concrete basement floor. I had just come down with a fresh cup of coffee and we commenced with the torture. We ceremonially chose a special George for the occassion and BANG, BANG, BANG, we pounded him into the cement. Well, ole George took his revenge! Hehehe My son threw the dollar as hard as he could into the cement and it spun up, bounced off my head (not hard - but hard enough to feel!) and plopped right into my coffee cup! lol Sometimes coins seem to have a life of their own!

This isn't very funny, but I'll tell you about it anyway.
Not long ago I was in a very small coin and stamp shop. A guy came in and started looking at some very expensive gold coins. Then he asks the store owner "Do any of these have any numtistic value?"
    LOL

From the impression I get of that dealer, I'd say he was licking his chops like a wolf about to make a kill.
