Friends, Welcome! Here is coin I found a few years ago. When showed to a expert online with AllExperts he said " I looks like a Toy..." that its not real.

The coin shows reddish appearance especially in the Reverse. And it has a strange thin black bead running on the side Edges. What does this mean..?
I know the US mint did attempt to make a very different cent with the rising cost of copper with using Aluminum . If this is different allloy used .....would it ADD to the value..?

    Appreciate your views and advise.

The surface of the coin does not appear like a normal US cent of the age to me.

A articel on Aluminum aging said that it turns RED with age.......just a science fact online.

While touching the coin the surface and look does not look like a normal business strike would. Why?

    God Bless,
    Beck.

An aluminum cent would weigh a little under 1 gram. 3 grams is within tolerance for a normal 1974 brass (copper) cent. (And I have no idea where you get the idea that aluminum turns red with age.)

Environmental damage on a normal copper. I metal detect and dig Cents like that all the time especially from the 1970's
See the weight on the real Aluminum Cent
